Jackets and Company has coordinated with Montana State University Billings faculty and staff to ensure that we have the textbooks, reference materials, and academic supplies in stock to enable you to succeed in your academic endeavors.  We have searched the marketplace for quality products at the most economical price and have secured the largest used book inventory possible to make certain your educational costs are kept to a minimum. 

Where can I purchase my textbooks?

Jackets and Company has bookstore locations on the East and West campuses of MSU Billings, as well as an online store that serves our Online University students.  The Union location is located inside the Student Union Building on the East Campus.  The West location services the College of Technology students and is located on the West Campus.  Online students are served through our online store located at www.jacketsandcompany.com.

What methods of payment can I use to purchase materials from Jackets and Company?

Jackets and Company accepts cash, personal checks, University debit cards (UCARD), bank debit cards and Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards.  We do not accept American Express at this time.

Jackets and Company sells gift cards in any denomination and accepts those cards as payment, as well. This is a great way for parents to give their student purchasing power without the hassle of using their credit card.  Just give us a call at 800-201-3794 and we will take the information over the phone. 

Students who have agency funding can also purchase their academic materials using their student ID card.

What if I drop a course or change my class schedule?

If you make any changes in your class schedule during the first two weeks of the semester (one week of summer session), you can bring your books back to the location you purchased them from for a refund provided you meet the refund policy as published in the store, online and in the student handbook.  You must have your original cash register receipt (no photo copies will be accepted).  If you purchased your academic materials using a debit or credit card, you must have the debit or credit card in your possession at the time of refund.  All refunds will be returned to the debit or credit card according to law.  Please allow two working days for the refunds to post to your account.

I have purchased a book that came with an access code or CD that does not work, what should I do?

Please bring your entire package back to the location that you purchased it from and we will either:

          a.  Exchange it for another copy.

          b.  Give you the publisher's contact information to get replacement copies.

Can I sell my books back to the bookstore?

Jackets and Company purchases books back from students on a daily basis.  If you need to sell your books, please bring them to the back service counter located inside our Union location.  Once each semester and at the end of each summer session, Jackets and Company buys books back for the following term on both campuses.  The East Campus book buy is located in the Petro Theatre Lobby and the West Campus book buy is located inside Jackets and Company West.  Please check the store for hours of operation.  These book buys will be your best opportunity to get the most for your textbooks, up to 50% of the new book price.  Prices are based upon store needs at the time you sell. 

Jackets and Company has partnered with an industry giant to provide online book buying.  This is a great way for online students or students that have moved outside the region to sell their books back.  Just go to our homepage and click on the sell button at the top and you will be on your way to selling back your books.  There is no freight costs associated with this service and you will receive a check in the mail within five days of mailing your books.  Warning, prices quoted are wholesale prices based upon industry needs and edition changes.  When you do use this service, you receive a 5% bonus.  This bonus is included in the quoted price and is not added to your total.

I am an online university student, how can I purchase my books?

Jackets and Company operates an online store, www.jacketsandcompany.com , that services all Montana State University Billings online students.  Go to our website and click on the BUY button at the top of our page.  From there, just follow the simple steps.  We will ship your order to your desired location with 48 hours.  Some time restrictions may apply.  Please check our website for current shipping information.  All payment options stated above are accepted online.

Can I reserve my textbooks?

Students who want to reserve their textbooks can do so online for the Fall and Spring semesters only.  Jackets and Company does not offer textbook reservation service for summer sessions.  To reserve your textbooks follow these simple steps:

- Go to www.jacketsandcompany.com

- Click "BUY" at the top of the page

- Please read all disclaimers on the page before proceeding

- Select your campus and term (make sure you have your current schedule handy)

- Select your Department, Course and Section

- All books required and recommended will be displayed.  Select your quantity, select prefer new or prefer used and then select reserved.

- Click "Add To Cart"

- Continue until you have selected books for all your courses

- click on "Basket" and review your reservation

- If your reservation is correct, go to "Checkout"

- If this is your first online order, please follow the instructions to create an online account - all information must be completed including shipping and billing information.  Make certain you provide a valid email account

- If you are a returning customer, just fill in the boxes

- Follow all prompts and verify the information requested

- Once you have completed the process, you will be given a confirmation number.  Please write this down and keep it handy if you need to change your reservation at a later date.  If you do not receive a confirmation number, you did not complete the process.  Please start over by clicking on "My Cart" at the top of the page.  If the cart is empty, you must start over.

When can I pick up my reserved textbooks?

Textbook reservations may be picked up at the campus location where the majority of your courses are held, either MSUB or COT.  Reservation pick up dates will be posted on our website.  Generally, the reservations will be available one week prior to the start of the semester.

How much will my books cost?

Textbook prices will vary from course to course and will be affected by the availability of used books.  Generally, a student that is taking 15 credits can expect to pay in the neighborhood of $450.00 to $550.00 per semester (science and medical courses may inflate these estimates by 10-15%).  Again, these costs can be higher or lower.  If you need to get a quote on your textbook costs, you can follow the instructions listed under "Textbook Reservation".
